The working processes of a Blacksmith.

Information[]

Forging and Tempering[]

Forging is a task that makes a metal into a solid shape by tapping at it with a hammer. The metal hardens depending on how well the hammering is. As the metal is tempered, it becomes harder and harder to shape. A complex appearance means it is almost impossible to maximize the forging process. Because tempering would inevitably change the shape, forging and tempering has to be done at the same time. It cannot be tempered after the forging. A blade that is not tempered properly is weak and lacking durability.[1]

For the above reasons, ordinary blacksmiths give up halfway through tempering when making complex items like Flamberges. Only blacksmiths who are confident in their ability carry out tempering to make with their own hands a powerful flamberge that has never been made before. If the characteristics of items are in their shape, blacksmiths focus on the shape rather than tempering. This is also the reason why it is rare to see this complex items above the epic rank.[2]
