Grid's 7th Epic as the Magic Swordsman of the Epics and 'Overgeared King Grid'.[1] This represents Grid as the 'Lantern of Humanity' which means the hope of the Human Race. The entitled 'Lantern of Humanity' is also an object of faith due to humanity (NPCs).[2]
Information about the Epic[]
The Lantern of Humanity is the 7th epic of Grid. During the start of the epic, he was eventually recognized as the 'Overgeared King Grid'.[3] Even before the formation of Overgeared Kingdom, Grid really liked the term 'Overgeared'.[4] Just before the Overgeared Kingdom was to be established he declared himself as the Overgeared King.[5] Since then he usually introduced himself as the Overgeared King Grid to everyone. As Magic Swordsman of the Epics was a concept created by system only for Grid, similarly the Overgeared King Grid was a concept Grid developed himself. Whole world knows him as the Overgeared King Grid and hence system also ultimately recognised him during the start of his 7th epic.[6]
The 7th epic started during his fight against the Great Demon Saleos, the 19th great demon. The point Grid reached the battle ground most of the rankers including Kraugel had already been defeated by the Saleos and were in great despair. Grid encouraged them, he encouraged the Humanity to fight against the great demon and despair. He encouraged them to struggle and became the ray of hope for the whole human race. He became the real 'Lantern of Humanity'.[7] Later on Saleos was raided, his last efforts of surviving were failed by Yura's Hell Regulation and lastly his soul was extinguished by the Saintess Ruby.[8] As Grid was established as the 'Lantern of Humanity' in the epic by the system,[9] so all the Players who participated in the battle against the Saleos became his followers, the Followers of the Lantern.[10]
Rewards[]
After the epic finished as a reward Grid got the title 'Lantern of Humanity'. His status as a Transcendent rose by a level. This affected things in many ways like, Grid's resistance towards skill damage and weapon damage was slightly increased. The chances of him triggering a skill based on probability were slightly increased. However, it doesn’t affect skills attached to Items. Lastly his Deity stat increased by 1 point.[11]
Information about the Title[]
The title Lantern of Humanity was acquired by Grid after the completion of his 7th epic. The title of Lantern of Humanity is very special, especially for Grid, who has his stamina increased by 35% by Duke of Virtue. It isn’t an exaggeration to say this title is worth dozens of levels. Moreover, he has also signed a Contract with Orc Lord Teruchan and has a stamina stat coefficient 1.8 times higher than the average. Each point in Stamina increases his Health stat by 54 and his Defense by 2.1.[12]
Grid saved countless people and earned this title. It was one of the ultimate hidden titles the S.A Group expected no player to get because their own sacrifice was needed as a stepping stone. Perhaps Grid proved his qualification to be an object of faith from the time he earned the title.[13]
