Grid was rewarded lordship over Reidan after the Golem Army Invasion.
Information[]
Reidan is a three or four days' walk away from Patrian heading west. However, if Monsters are constantly encountered, the journey will be delayed several times.[3] There are several rivers and lakes near Reidan which are connected to the fields by waterways. The Hebend River is directly connected to Reidan.[4]
Reidan is the second-largest city located in the past Eternal Kingdom and the current Overgeared Kingdom. Grid had tremendous expectations about his city. After Grid was given the title of Duke, he wanted to arrive quickly and check how many taxes he would get from the city. However, when Grid arrived at Reidan, he saw that the city was near to ruins and the starving populace gave him the appearance of refugees.
Reidan was part of Grid's reward for his contribution during the Golem Army Invasion. Reidan was suspected to be granted to Grid by King Wiesbaden to restore the land and prosperity of the city after it was taken over by desert worms 10 years prior.
Once the management of the city came to Grid and his subordinates, they spent time trying to re-open water sources and fields to help feed the starving population. Later on, Grid managed to release Rabbit from prison to help in the reconstruction of the city as the new administrator. Rabbit wanted to invest in alchemy to recreate the city of the dwarfs, Talima.

Dire Conditions of Reidan[]
Chapter 217
In the past, the Vampires were a threat to Reidan. The Vampire Lairs are somewhere in the west and the vampires often used the people of Reidan as their food.
10 years ago, the lord recruited troops to raid the vampire lair. The giant worms emerged soon after the vampire raid began. And Reidan fell in just five months. The giant worms ravaging the land were so strong that they couldn't be subjugated with a regular army. They quickly turned the western part of the kingdom into a desert, leading to a shortage of resources and supplies, including water. To make matters worse, all types of desert monsters started to appear. This situation got so bad that Reidan was eventually isolated from the kingdom around it, falling into a food shortage. Large-scale support from the kingdom became impossible so the former lord of Reidan gave up. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes.
Most of the people who didn't leave Reidan are the families of the young men conscripted to the vampire raid. The vampire subjugation troops were scheduled to return in half a year, so the families of the soldiers had to wait until then. 40,000 people waited for years, but the vampire subjugation team didn't return. However, the family members kept staying in Reidan. Eventually, half of them gave up or starved to death.
Since the people were unable to get help from the kingdom and they chose the empire. The empire will protect the Hebend River directly connected to Reidan from the monsters. In return, the people of Reidan will have to make an offering to the empire every year. Thanks to the protection of the empire, the people of Reidan were able to relieve the food shortage through farming. The economy was slowly revived.
But the amount of wealth the empire asked for grew every year. Then there was a food crisis again. In the end, the people of Reidan reached the point where they couldn't listen to the demands of the empire any more. The empire withdrew their forces and as a result, there were only 20,000 people left in Reidan. They were on the brink of starvation.
